About CD to WAV/MP3 Ripper
CD to WAV/MP3 Ripper is your complete solution for converting your audio
CDs to the WAV or MP3 file formats. This process is also called digital audio
extraction, or "ripping". CD to WAV/MP3 Ripper is one of the most
powerful conversion tools on the Internet, and makes ripping custom digital
music from CDs a snap. You can rip to WAV for burning custom mixes, or rip to
15 different choices of MP3 bitrates. When ripping to MP3, files are encoded
on the fly, with no temp file made. The Ripper uses the newest, fastest and
highest quality ripping engine available. CD to WAV/MP3 Ripper features an intuitive
WinZip style interface, with CD controls for previewing and playing your CD
tracks. The Ripper creates a very small memory footprint, so you can smoothly
multitask during conversions. Best of all, this software is free, and will never
expire.

Getting Started
with CD to WAV/MP3 Ripper
1. Insert an Audio CD into your CD drive. Then start the program.
2. If your CD tracks do not appear on the filelist, click "Read CD". When your tracks appear, click "Select All" to highlight all of them for ripping, or select only the tracks you want to rip by checking the correct boxes.
3. At this point you may:
- Preview your CD Audio by using the CD controls
- Choose your Ripping Properties from the Options Menu.
- Select (or deselect) individual tracks for ripping
- Set your Output Directory for converted files.
4. Now choose "Rip"
This will bring up the ripping dialog. Press "Begin" to start the
ripping process. All selected CD tracks in the large pane will be extracted
to the WAV or MP3 file format. If you didn't select your Output directory, you
will be prompted to do so before ripping.
5. Play/Share your MP3s or Burn
your CDs
If you chose to burn to MP3, you're ready to go! If you chose to rip to WAV
your extracted files are now ready to be burned onto CDs. Use your favorite
CD burning program you own that accomplishes this. MThree Development recommends
www.download.com or www.tucows.com
for a large selection of CD Burning software.
Read CD
Click this button on the bottom-right of the window to read tracks from a CD
you have inserted. After you click it the tracks will show up in the filelist.
Mute / CD Controls
When you start CD to WAV/MP3 Ripper it will spin your CD drive so as to read
the CD tracks. You will start to hear music play, but you can check the "Mute"
box to mute this. Also, you can use the CD Controls (from left to right) Play,
Pause, Stop, Open CD Tray, Close CD Tray.
Select All
This button will select or "check" all songs on the audio CD in the
filelist for ripping. If you want to rip entire CDs, click this button before
you choose to "Rip".
Clear All
Clears/deselects all the tracks that are selected for ripping in in the filelist
(unchecks all the boxes).
Rip
This button will open the ripping dialog. Once you are sure you are ready to
rip, hit Begin in this new window to start extracting your files. If you have
not already selected your output directory before clicking "Rip" a
dialog will pop-up asking you where you'd like to save your extracted files.
CD to WAV/MP3 Ripper uses the fastest and most efficient Digital Audio Extraction
Engine available. For more info about our engine, email us.
Output
This chooses where you want your ripped MP3 or WAV files to be placed. Choose
a directory where it will be easy to find your files. If you have not selected
this directory, it will pop-up and ask you where you want to save ripped files
when you click "Rip".
Options Menu > Change Ripping Properties...
To change the format that you want to Rip in, click on this menu. You can select
to rip to WAV or MP3. Choose your MP3 bitrate from the pulldown menu- the higher
the bitrate, the better the quality of the MP3, but the larger the outputted
file will be. The default is ripping to WAV.
Troubleshooting
and Common Errors
- Missing file errors (Runtime 339) MSVBVM60.DLL or MSCOMCTL.OCX
If you experience missing dll or OCX errors, such as Runtime error 339, the
fix is simple. MThree software requires certain system components to run correctly
(Visual Basic 6 Runtime files). These necessary files are published by Microsoft.
Go to www.mthreedev.com/support.html
to download these necessary files. Run the downloaded installers and your problems
will be fixed.
- Other Common
Errors
My CD is not reading correctly, or my drive is not being detected.
Chances are, your ASPI layer is not up to date. This means that the drivers
that your computer uses to read your CD drive need to be updated. CD to WAV/MP3
Ripper includes the latest ASPI layer in its installer. If you have problems,
try re-installing the Ripper, and when you are prompted to install ASPI update,
select Yes and follow the instructions.
Ripping Process Gets Stuck, or quits in the
middle of a track
This can happen if the CD you are ripping has inconsistencies or scratches in
it that impede your drive from reading it correctly. Make sure your CDs are
as scratch and dust-free as possible before attempting to Rip. Our ripper uses
jitter-correction but can not avoid every error.
Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQ)
- How do I add tracks to the file-list for conversion?
Make sure you have an Audio CD in your drive before starting the Ripper. If
your CD tracks do not appear, click "Read CD". You can then select
all or some of the tracks to convert by checking the boxes next to them.
- Where are
the converted files outputted?
If you click on the Output button, you will be prompted to select an output
directory. Alternately, if you select tracks and click Rip without defining
an output directory, the prompt will appear and you may select the directory.
- When I click
"Rip" , then "Begin", I see a bunch of numbers... How long
will it take to Rip CDs?
The speed of ripping is dependent on many factors. Bitrate, encoding type, speed
of processor, amount of free memory, OS, size of CD tracks, and speed of your
CD Drive. These can all contribute to different levels of performance. Typically
our Ripper is extremely fast- for example ripping on a 32x CD-ROM drive occurs
at 20x. No temp file is made when ripping to MP3- encoding is done on the fly.
- Why do my
CDs play when I start the ripper?
To be able to read the CD tracks from your CD, our program must spin your CD
in the drive. This plays the CD, but you can click the "Mute" box
to mute the music. You can also click "Stop" once your tracks have
been read.
- What is Adware? Is my privacy
guaranteed?
Yes! Your privacy is guaranteed by us and our adware partners at all times.
When you installed CD to WAV/MP3 Ripper Free you will have seen "License
